About

Indiana custody records are spread across different systems. A recent county booking may sit with a sheriff's office, a sentenced state-prison case may move into the Indiana Department of Correction, and federal or immigration custody may require a national locator. This private reference site helps organize those paths for people trying to understand Indiana inmate population records.

Why This Site Exists

Indiana does not have one single public database that answers every custody question. The state has 92 county-level jail systems for local arrests, pretrial custody, short local sentences, and many holds for other agencies. Separately, the Indiana Department of Correction, or IDOC, maintains the statewide prison system for sentenced state custody and operates its own incarcerated-person search. Federal custody uses the Bureau of Prisons locator, immigration custody uses ICE's Online Detainee Locator System, court case information appears through Indiana MyCase, and custody alerts may be handled through Indiana SAVIN or VINELink.

Indiana Inmate Population is a privately operated navigation and research guide. It is built to explain how those Indiana custody systems differ by custody type, county, facility, and record need.

What Is Included

The site focuses on public-record paths that commonly matter after an arrest, booking, transfer, or sentence in Indiana.

What We Cannot Do

This is not a government website. It is not affiliated with IDOC, any Indiana sheriff's office, any county jail, the Indiana Judicial Branch, BOP, ICE, Indiana SAVIN, VINELink, or any other public agency.

  • We cannot release, hold, move, or transfer any person in custody.
  • We cannot post bond, set visitation, add money to an account, or arrange jail calls.
  • We cannot give legal advice or interpret a court order for a specific case.
  • We cannot guarantee that every roster field, link, phone number, address, fee, or schedule is current.

Only the official custodian can confirm current custody, charges, release status, visitation eligibility, or record access for a specific person.

Search Partners

Some pages may include search tools supplied by third-party partners. Those tools may have their own pricing, account rules, data practices, and result limits. If a visitor chooses a paid option through a partner tool, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the public guide available, but it does not give this site control over the partner's prices, records, ranking, or results.
